Your Health Companion App: Keeping track of your EGFR+, your care & quality of life

Some patients are very organised and enter the consulting room with a detailed breakdown of everything they want to cover in the meeting, a folder perhaps or a typed sheet. Others (like me) have a scruffy notebook or a sheet of paper with randomly organised statements and questions. Inevitably whatever your preparation for the consultation, many of us leave having forgotten to raise some issue or another. What we need is a tracking system that captures and summarises  what has been happening since our last clinic appointment. The big issues that are obvious and the small but repetitive ones, that we often forget to share with our clinical team. Imagine having access to a graph that illustrates your experience over the last period for eg pain, skin, nails. Much more reliable than out memories which tend to lead to the ‘I’m OK’ response. We often put episodes of discomfort or pain to the back of our mind. For example, I may have had dreadful nausea 4 weeks ago but it passed and doesn’t seem worth raising today or has been  completely forgotten. If this is you, you may be failing to recognise a pattern which is significant and coping with a discomfort that could be addressed. Your Health Companion will help. It is a free, digital app that allows you to keep track of your symptoms, quality of life, experience of care and costs in one central, secure place.

Be informed

When living with cancer, knowing what impact the disease is having on your life is essential if you are to receive the best care possible. The Companion works like a private, diary, that enables you to record how you are feeling, quality of life and symptoms, your experience of the care you receive and keep track of expenses connected with your care. By enabling you to keep an accurate record in one place, across time, you are better equipped to monitor changes in your health and wellbeing and able to communicate accurately with healthcare professionals, so together you can better understand how to manage the illness and symptoms.

Drive change

We are dedicated to supporting research, by using Your Health Companion you will help drive advancements in treatments and medicines by providing real-world evidence: what it is really like living with the disease.

Across the UK, existing cancer registries routinely collect information about every single cancer patient and use it to help doctors and healthcare teams decide on the most effective treatment. However, what is lacking is the ‘patient voice’ – YOUR voice.

Developed in collaboration with DaSH Global, a leading real-world evidence company, Your Health Companion is underpinned by validated research instruments called Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs). Anonymous data collected by Your Health Companion sits alongside national clinical datasets to create a real world research platform that helps inform research and in order to make fully informed decisions on how to improve standards and treatments.

Your Health Companion will help you be better informed about your quality of life and the pattern of your physical response to the EGFR+ or treatment.
