Celebrating Our Community Fundraisers
Alex Wysocki was diagnosed with stage 4 EGFR+ lung cancer in early 2024. He died just a few weeks later, aged only 24. He was fit, healthy and loved football.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Fundraisers. Your generosity powers our mission – and your stories inspire our journey.
In the financial year 2024–25, EGFR Positive UK’s total income was £89,937. Of this, a remarkable £72,178, or 81%, came through fund-raisers and GiftAid thereon, thanks to the incredible efforts of our members.
We were honoured to be supported by 24 dedicated fundraisers through our crowdfunding platform, JustGiving. While some supported our broader awareness and patient initiatives, the majority fundraised in memory of loved ones—turning personal grief into a powerful legacy of hope.
The largest single fundraising effort this year came from the Wysocki family, contributing an incredible £20,091 (including Gift Aid) through Love2Donate, in loving memory of Alex Wysocki, who passed away on 28th March 2024 at the age of 24. The funds have been earmarked for the creation of a short film that tells Alex’s story, with the goal of raising awareness of lung cancer in younger people. This film is currently in production and will be a vital part of our advocacy and outreach work. The Wysocki family also hosted a Race Night in March 2025, raising an additional £1,000, and plan a memorial football match to be held at Oxenhope on 18th May 2025. We are profoundly grateful to Charlie Wysocki and the entire family for their strength, generosity, and commitment to helping others through their support of EGFR Positive UK.
In addition, through the in-memory platform MuchLoved, four fundraisers contributed a net total of £4,987— as a tribute to cherished family members and friends. We extend our deepest thanks to those who shared their stories and gave so generously.
Thanks to our registration with HMRC, we were able to claim an additional 25% on eligible donations through the Gift Aid scheme—amplifying the impact every pound raised. The total received through Gift Aid this year was £19,169, including some claims from previous years.
