Our Lungs: Time to Breathe premieres in London
This week, EGFR Positive Lung Cancer UK hosted the private premiere screening of Our Lungs: Time to Breathe, our new short documentary from filmmaker Sarah Li.
The screening brought together healthcare professionals, scientists, patients, family members, journalists and politicians for an evening that didn't end when the credits rolled. Attendees stayed on afterwards to share their own insights into what needs to change in how lung cancer is recognised and diagnosed.
The film follows Sarah's own experience of living with EGFR-positive lung cancer, and her meeting with the family of Alex, a young footballer who died from the same rare form of the disease. Together, their stories challenge common misconceptions about who gets lung cancer, and make the case for earlier detection, especially in younger people with no known risk factors.
Sarah said: "Early diagnosis saves lives, and open conversations about what is really happening are a vital step forward."
We're now working to bring the film to new audiences, including further screenings in different locations and a permanent home on a national broadcaster. In the meantime, you can host your own screening and find out more about the wider campaign on the film's website.
